Notes |
- “[Virgil] joined the Navy at the age of 18 during World War II and served on the U.S.S. Arctic as a mechanic. He met Dorothy on a blind date, and they married on July 16, 1949, in Mound, Minnesota. The same year he began working for Fretz Construction Company, where he worked for 63 years.
“Virgil’s life exemplified helping and giving of his time, energy, and talents unselfishly for others. Anyone who knew Virgil can attest that his actions spoke louder than his words. While quiet and unassuming, he was an intelligent man who had a quick wit and could fix virtually anything. As he said, ‘If it can’t be fixed, it ain’t broke.’” [3]
