- Edmond worked in a clothing factory for a short time after graduating high school and before enlisting the U.S. Army Air Corps. He trained in Illinois and Arizona then was shipped to the Pacific theater in 1944. He returned to the states in 1946 and went to work for the New Bedford Gas and Electric Company. He became an electrician within a year, but on a rainy day in 1949 he was accidently electrocuted while on an electric pole. [1]
