    • “Born in Lakewood, OH in 1919, Cdr. Allsopp grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Dec. 1941. He served in the Pacific Theatre, first on the Cruiser U.S.S. San Diego and later on the U.S.S. Miami.

      “After WWII, Cdr. Allsopp earned a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Navy postgraduate school at Annapolis. He then served as the Engineer Officer on the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Rochester where the ship earned a unit citation during the Korean Conflict.

      “After his marriage to Betty Jane Knox, from Pittsburgh, PA in 1951, he was Ship Superintendent at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and later served in Rio de Janeiro for two years as part of the U.S. Naval mission to Brazil. He concluded his naval service improving satellite tracking associated with the Vanguard program.

      “Cdr. Allsopp retired from the Navy in 1962 and then started a new career with Pan Am where he pioneered energy conservation and management. He enjoyed diverse interests, such as chess, reading, and international travel; and a lifelong love for golf, which he played until he died.” [3]
