  • Notes
    • “Mrs. Shadle was born on August 16, 1924 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Mary Lou (Burleson) and W.F. Rogers Jr., a prominent local Choctaw rancher. Her Choctaw heritage was a source of pride throughout her life. After briefly attending Oklahoma State University she married high school sweetheart Jack Miller Shadle (USN) in 1945. She spent the following decades as a mother and homemaker, as well as serving as a volunteer for religious, educational, and civic organizations, in Ardmore and Tishomingo Oklahoma, and later, Greeley and Boulder, Colorado. In particular, she befriended and entertained scores of international students, who delighted in her gregarious and energetic personality. A committed, broad-minded Christian, she was a member of the Southern Baptist faith. After having raised two sons, she worked in a managerial capacity at family business, Plaza Drug Mart, in Boulder. Most of her retirement years were spent in Norman, Oklahoma, where she pursued her passion for gardening.” [1]
