  • Notes
    • Bordie was a self-taught mining and mill man having been raised in the mining camps of old Mexico. He worked for the large smeltering companies, and it was this work that took him to Arabia, Central America, and Mexico. Earlier in life he packed mules, fought off wolves in the Sierra Madre mountains, and was acquainted with many of the 1910 revolutionaries. His family operated a hotel in Temosachic, Chihuahua of which Pancho Villa and Francisco Madera were frequent guests.

Bordie died when his pickup overturned while he was on his way to Phoenix to spend Christmas with his family. A simple burial was conducted at the cemetery in which he is buried. His grave is in the Mexican style: a mound of fresh earth, some bunch grass, and a plain wooden cross. [2]
