    • Melvin Tumlinson worked as an engineer with the Santa Fe Railway Company since 1947. He moved from San Angelo to Slaton in 1948.

      He died as a result of injuries in an auto collision in downtown Plainview. He was critically injured about 12:35 p.m. of the day of his death when the pickup he was driving collided with a car driven by Mrs. Don Bybee of Lockney. The accident occurred at the intersection of 7th and U.S. 87 Business Route. Police said that he was returning to the Santa Fe depot in Plainview during the lunch hour when his pickup collided with Mrs. Bybee’s northbound car. [5]
