    Notes:

“JoAnn was proud of her rich South Texas pioneering ancestry. She was the great granddaughter of D.C. Rachal who settled at La Rosita Ranch at White-Point.  D.C. was noted for his unique ability to drive thousands of cattle to the mid-west markets in record time, a method which became known as “Rachal Em” for driving them hard and fast as opposed to more conventional methods.  D.C. later became one of the largest cotton farmers in San Patricio County, passing the land on to his son Chrys who later bequeathed the property to JoAnn’s father Dave and his siblings.   JoAnn’s maternal great-great-grandfather Nicholas Bluntzer immigrated to Texas with his family at the age of 9 from Alsace, France. Nicholas Bluntzer served as a scout for Lt. Col. Robert E. Lee. Upon his death in 1901, Nicholas was one of the largest tax payers in Nueces County, having owned 60,000 acres.
“JoAnn graduated from Taft High School in 1949.  She met and married Joe William Tumlinson at that time and settled west of Sinton to raise their family.  JoAnn was a stay-at-home rural house wife and mom typical of life in the 50’s and 60’s.  Her time was devoted to raising four kids, cooking wonderful meals, sewing beautiful dresses and keeping a spotless home.  After the kids grew older, JoAnn became a legal secretary in Sinton until her retirement.
“One of JoAnn’s favorite hobbies was “antiquing”, and she became involved in several retail antique co-ops in South Texas.  JoAnn and Joe loved to dance.  At the seasonal family picnics at the Rachal Ranch at White Point, she always reserved the first songs to teach her sons how to two-step and waltz so they could escort their “pigtailed” cousins around the dance floor just like Joe and JoAnn.
“JoAnn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton since 1950.”
