James Burleson died on his labor (177 acres) on Buckner’s Creek in Fayette County, Texas. He moved to that land in 1847. A cedar house was built on the property. It was 35’ by 40’, two-story, built on “box style” with a stone chimney on one end. There were four rooms (two of which were downstairs), a gallery in the front, and the back“shed” rooms.
